The purpose of this lesson is to help you understand how to create and manage Bank Accounts.
Bank and Bank Statement Introduction
Bank and Bank Statement - Bank Setup
Notes about Bank Account => Accounting subtab:
You create accounts for your Bank Account => Bank Asset and Bank In-Transit accounts in the Account Element window => Element Value subtab (just like creating any other account in your COA).
You create a unique pair of GL accounts per Bank Account - said another way, each Bank Account gets it own Bank Asset account and Bank In-Transit account.
It is OK for the Account Element => Search Key (also known as: account number) to include special characters. This is convenient for Bank Accounts because you can name your accounts like: "10023-BA" and "10023-BIT". Even thought they have the same prefix, they are Technically different accounts.
I strongly recommend you update the Accounting Schema window => Defaults subtab => Bank Asset and Bank In-Transit default fields to a '99998 - default account - do not use' so that if you ever forget to change newly created Bank Account => Accounting records, it is obvious when you run your trial balance.

Bank Transfers
Use the processed called 'Bank/Cash Transfer'. Here are details of the process:
It is a process that automates the creation of two Payment records (one 'Payment' and one 'Receipt').
Since Payments require a Business Partner, the Bank Transfer process also requires a Business Partner.
I typically create a 'Bank Transfer' Business Partner to help identify the resulting Payment records.
They system clears the transaction through a GL account via a Charge. The Charge is a required parameter of the Bank Transfer process.
I recommend creating and using a GL account and associated Charge called 'Bank Transfer Clearing'.
To help make the DocumentNo field more meaningful and consistent, I recommend you default the value using Context (search context) with a date or other bank related values.

Other enhancements
Payment needs before void/reverse logic to prevent void/reverse if payment is in a batch.
Bank Statement window needs subtab called "Bank Statement View" that (a) hides payments that are in a batch and instead shows batches as a single line. This helps users compare the iDempiere bank statement view with how the bank's statement looks.
Bank Statement window => Line subtab => add Batch field to show if the payment is part of a batch (Column SQL)
