Choose an iDempiere Distribution

The purpose of this page is to discuss iDempiere distribution options and why I only use the LogiliteERP distribution. Here are a list of the distributions as of this writing:

• Core iDempiere
• LogiliteERP iDempiere Distribution - supported by Logilite
• JPiere iDempiere Distribution - supported for Japanese language and region

All my production clients use LogiliteERP (as opposed to core). Here are my reasons why:

• Logilite allows me to create new features in the core without needing to wait for the core iDempiere community acceptance process.
• Logilite supports old versions. For example: they were still actively supporting 3.1 when 7.1 was released.
• Logilite has proven to be good partner for iDempiere development.
• Logilite does a great job of contributing back to the core. For example: when they make a LogiliteERP core change, they create a jira ticket with the change artifacts so the core iDempiere may adopt the change if they wish.

The result of the above bullets is that Logilite helps me create agility and stability around an active, vibrant iDempiere project.

Choose the Distribution During Installation

When installing iDempiere, you can use the -a option to specify a properties file. The properties file tells the system which source to use. See the installation script page and search for "properties" to see an example of its usage.
