ERP Academy iDempiere Release Overview

1. iDempiere does not perform feature releases. Instead, they increment versions based on the technology platform. If they want to support a new version of Java or Eclipse or ZK, they will increment the version to do so. iDempiere typically release a new version every 1.5 years.
2. iDempiere uses Jenkins to periodically build iDempiere. These builds help the development team become aware of issues. Successful builds push binaries to source forge.
3. Be aware that iDempiere Jenkins will change at a moments notice. There is no advanced notice. This fact makes using iDempiere Jenkins for installation unstable and problematic. Issues includes:
   1. Builds break
   2. Builds are renamed
   3. Changes are made
4. The purpose of the ERP Academy Jenkins is to provide a stable and reliable installation source. I update the build about every 6 months. Doing so helps ensure:
   1. If you build two different machines a couple of days or weeks apart, they will most likely be the exact same version of iDempiere.
   2. You do not need to worry as much about getting the bleeding edge of iDempiere feature development. If a release has been available for a while, it is reasonably well vetted.
