The main Coursework page is designed to be studied from the top down. I would start at the top, and work your way down.

Getting Started - Understanding the Database
The vast majority of iDempiere uses PostgreSQL as the database. The other option is Oracle. I have used both, and I strongly prefer PostgreSQL. Below are thoughts and tools to help you get acclimated to the database schema.
iDempiere does a great job of creating DDL that includes articulates foreign key references. This means you can use any DB schema tool to inspect the relationships.
